Wellington – Besuch von meinem Sohn

Nun bin ich schon seit zwei Wochen in Neuseeland und reise seit vier Tagen mit meinem Sohn Lieven und seinem Freund Nico zusammen, was mir sehr gut gefaellt. Immer wieder neue Leute kennenlernen, denen man alles moegliche erklaeren muss, die man aber nach zwei Tagen doch wieder verlaesst, ist nicht immer einfach. Ennge Kontakte kann man so nie schliessen.
Zur Zeit sitzen wir hier in Wellington fest und warten auf unsere Faehre. Es ist hier super kalt, stuermisch und regnerisch , so wie bei uns im Herbst an der Nordsee!! Seit gestern sind alle Faehren gecancelt, auf fuer die naechsten zwei Tage. Hier im Hostel regnet es in einige Zimmer hinein! Heizungen gibt es hier auch nicht. Ich sitze hier im dicken Vliespullover mit eiskalten Haenden.
Die Nordinsel habe ich in den letzten zwei Wochen teilweise erkundet. Dazu demnaechst mehr.

 

Abel Tasman Park – Suedinsel

So, das schlechte Wetter ist vorbei, wir haben unsere Faehre bekommen und hatten eine wunderschoene Ueberfahrt durch die marlborough Sonds, sieht aus wie in Schweden die Schaeren. Nun haben uns ein haessliches, aber brauchbares Auto gemietet und sind unterwegs.
Gerade haben wir eine zweitaegige Wanderung durch den Abel Tasman Park gemacht, traumhaft schoen!! Alles begann mit einer Faehrfahrt entlang der Kueste, welche Huegelig und bewaldet ist. Das Wasser ist tuerkisblau und die Straende und Buchten haben einen feinen gelben Sand. Also farblich sehr schoen anzusehen. Dann kam das Ueberraschende, naemlich ploetzlich war unsere Faehre umgeben von Delphinen!! Riesige Delphine, die ihren Spass daran hatten, in den grossen Wellen des Schiffes zu spielen. Sie begleiteten uns ueber eine laengere Zeit und kamen spaeter noch einmal wieder. Wir waren total begeistert. Offenbar haben wir sehr viel Glueck gehabt, denn diese Delphine werden hier nicht taeglich gesehen. In den letzten Tagen gab es hier sogar Orcas!
Unsere Wanderung begann in einer stillen malerischen bucht (in einem schoenen Cafe) und ging entlang der Kueste, durch dichten Busch, Farnwaelder, ueber kleinere Berge, ueber Schluchten , vorbei an Wasserfaellen und einigen natuerlichen Schwimmbecken, bis man wieder in der naechsten Bucht ist und einen Strand zu ueberqueren hat. Diese Straende lassen sich meist nur bei Niedrigwasser ueberqueren, oder aber man muss einen grossen Umweg laufen. Bei Niedrigwasser sehen diese Buchten mit ihren kleinen Rinnsaelen und riesigen Sandflaechen ebenfalls sehr schoen aus. Wirklich eine wunderschoene Wanderung, wenn die Uebernachtung in der Huette nicht gewesen waere! 14 Personen in einem Raum, auf zwei riesigen Liegeflaechen auf zwei Ebenen! vier Maedchen kamen erst gegen 11 Uhr und machten einen Hoellenlaerm bis sie ihr Bett gefunden hatten und ihre Tasche im L:icht der Taschenlampe umgekrempelt hatten. Ich hatte keinen Schlafsack und musste leider ziemlich frieren. Aber ansonsten eine Super – Wanderung.
Ab Mitte Februar wird es uebrigens wieder Fotos geben!!

 

Pancake Rocks, Arthurs Pass

So, meine letzten Tage in Neuseeland sind nun auch vorbei und morgen geht es Von Christchurch ueber Auckland und Sydney nach Bangkok.
Mit dem Auto sind wir vorgestern an der wunderschoenen Westkueste entlanggefahren. Die Kueste ist hier wilder und zerkueftetet, ebenso das Meer. Steil ragen Felsen auf, interessante Formationen, die an aufgeschichtete Pfannkuchen erinnern. Zwischen den Felsen gibt es schmale Oeffnungen, sogenannte Blowholes, aus denen das Wasser bei stuermischer See wie eine Fontaene in die Hoehe sprueht. In ein solches Loch fiel 1986 ein Tourist und ueberlebte auf wundersame Weise. Die Vegetation ist hier auch sehr interessant. Es gibt hier riesig Farne, sie sehen aus wie Palmen, dann gibt es auch richtige Palmen, dichten Busch bis dicht an die Kueste heran und mit Moos und Flechten bewachsene Baeume. Pletzlich hoert diese Vegetation auf und man sieht nur noch riesige Felder mit sogenanntem Flachs.
Direkt vor der Kueste gibt es hier einige Seehundkolonien, so dass wir diese Tiere auch noch einmal in “freier Wildbahn” beobachten konnten. Kurz nach Greymouth haben wir dann die Suedinsel ueberquert, indem wir ueber den Arthurs Pass gefahren sind. Hier ist das Gebirge schon sehr hoch und es gibt schneebedeckte Gipfel und Gletscher. Eine Wanderung fuehrte uns zu einem solchen Gletscher, eine andere Wanderung zu einem 132 m hohen Wasserfall.
Abends sassen wir dann doch tatsaechlich in einer Herberge am Ofen!! Ein wenig frisch hier oben!
Als ich gerade das Gepaeck aus dem Kofferraum nehmen wollte , taucht neben mir ein riesiger gruener- rotgefiederter Vogel auf, aehnlich einem Adler, der forsch auf mich zuging. Nachdem ich einen Schritt zurueckging, sprang bzw. flog er auf die Kante des Kofferraumes, um sich dessen Inhalt in Ruhe anzusehen!! Wir erfuhren, dass es sich hierbei um einen Kea handelt, den es nur in dieser Alpenregion gibt. Er hat keine Scheu vor Menschen und stiehlt alles, was er bekommen und mit seinem riesigen Schnabel wegtragen kann, z.B. Schuhe, Handtuecher und Essbares!
Es gibt in dieser Region sehr viele Wanderer, die sogenanntes “Tramping” betreiben. D.h. sie wandern mit vollem Gepaeck mehrere Tage durch die Berge. Ein junges japanisches Paar berichtete mir, wie es beim ueberqueren eines grossen Bergbaches das Gleichgewicht verlor und mit vollem Gepaeck ruecklings in den “liver” fiel. Die Stroeming war maechtig, das Wasser tief und sie waeren um ein Haar ertrunken. Eine Koreanerin, welche eine Wanderung zu einem bestimmten Berg unternahm, war so fasziniert, als sie den Schnee auf dem Gipfel sah, dass sie wider alle Vernunft ihren Weg verliess, nur noch besessen von dem Gedanken den Gipfel und den Schnee zu erreichen. Schlechtes Wetter zog auf, sie verlief sich und fand keinen Rueckweg mehr. Die Nacht verbrachte sie im Schnee und wurde am naechsten Tag von einem Hubschrauber gerettet. Ihre Gedanken und Aengste in dieser Nacht hat sie sehr eindrucksvoll im Gaestebuch unserer Herberge niedergeschrieben.
So, das wars dann erstmal aus Neuseeland, ich wuerde mich sehr ueber ein paar neue Gruesse auf meiner Seite freuen!!
